Pilar’s professional experience spans over 30 years and includes the assessment and treatment of diverse populations in both acute care and outpatient settings. She has provided individual, group, and family psychotherapy to adolescents, adults, and geriatric clients in community mental health care settings, private practice, addiction treatment centers, and to dual disordered individuals with chronic illnesses. She was a trainer for 2 evidenced-based Center for Substance Abuse Treatment's (CSAT) Strengthening Families models, and participated in research at the national level with CSAT and the University of Miami. She was a faculty member at the University of Miami’s Center for Addictions Studies. She has supervised clinical and non-clinical staff in several mental health and substance abuse organizations. During the last 15 years, she has worked as Clinical Utilization Manager, Clinical Wellness Coach and Clinical Director of a national managed behavioral health care organization and national Employee Assistance Program (EAP). She provides corporate training and employee/leadership consultation to small business and national EAPs on many topics including reasonable suspicion, occupational stress and occupational mental health, leadership, communication, and wellness. She is the Director of an Outpatient Substance Misuse Program and is in private practice in Tampa, Florida.
